A relaxed, illuminated, youthful facial glow ( Botox Geneva )
Used in aesthetic medicine for nearly thirty years, botulinum toxin commonly known as botox® is a natural protein produced by a micro-organism, which causes a temporary and reversible localized muscle relaxation, creating a decrease or disappearance of wrinkles of the treated area. The popular term botox® is one of the trade names of botulinum protein, which is just as equally effective as : Bocouture, Azzalure, Xeomin, Vistabel
Specific areas treated with botox® are: forehead, forehead wrinkles and crows feet wrinkles around the eyes.
Within a few days, the wrinkles treated with botox® are reduced or eliminated, and the face appears relaxed and rested.
The effect of botox® or botulinum toxin gradually diminishes within 4 – 6 months.
Botox® is extremely safe and has been in use in medicine for over 60 years for numerous medical treatments. The effects are fully reversible within a few months. It remains the preferred technique for treating wrinkles of the upper face.
Depending on your needs, the intensity of the treatment can be adapted accordingly.
BOTOX or Botulinum Toxin
What is Botox ?
Better known as Botulinum Toxin, Botox is the commercial name used for Botulinum Toxin which also applies to: Vistabel, Azzalure, Bocouture
Botulinum Toxin is a natural protein which is produced by a microorganism that enables a temporary, reversible and local relaxation of muscles.
Botulinum Toxin has been used in the medical field for more than 60 years and in aesthetic medicine since 1975.
Why is Botox used in aesthetic medicine ?
Due to its muscle relaxing effect, Botox helps to drastically diminish expression wrinkles appearing over time. It is important to note that only targeted and treated muscles relax, and that other parts of the face are not affected by the treatment. The obtained effect is smoothening of the skin, eliminating most wrinkles for a period of 3 to 6 months.
Where can Botulinum Toxin be used ?
Essentially in areas where expression lines appear:
- horizontal wrinkles on the forehead
- lion wrinkles, between the eyes
- crow’s-feet, wrinkles around the eyes
Botulinum Toxin is also used for other treatments :
- to reduce bitterness folds
- to smoothen the neck and redefine the overall facial contours
- to reduce excessive sweating in the armpits (hyperhidrosis)
Treatment performed with Botulinum Toxin consists of several injections using a very fine needle which is almost painless. Injection points are determined according to:
- the patient’s request, the facial morphology and analysis of skin’s movements
Dosage adjustment is possible in order to modulate the effect of Botox. By doing so it is possible to soften wrinkles without altering natural facial expressions.
After 10 to 15 days a follow-up consultation is usually carried-out and may involve additional injections.
The results are visible within 4 to 6 days upon treatment. The skin appears more smoothened and the eyes more relaxed. Botox only relaxes the muscles and smoothens the skin, and does not produce a volumizing effect as hyaluronic acid does.
Today, Botox with its many years of usage in aesthetic medicine makes it the most effective, safest and most popular treatment for getting rid of wrinkles.
